Today you are 17 months old. I swear, I just wrote your 16 month blog. You are growing so fast! You are also learning so many new things. You are really starting to become your own little person. We love just sitting back and watching you do what you do each day.
We're not sure what you weigh since you haven't been back to the doctor (thankfully!) since your last well baby check up. I don't think you've gained much, if anything.
You wear mainly 18 month clothing, except for shorts, which you can wear anywhere from 24 months to 2T.
You wear a size 5 shoe.
You wear a size 5 diaper during the day and a size 6 overnight diaper during the night.
You still go to bed at 7pm and usually get up anywhere from 7am to 8am. You are still taking two naps a day, ranging from 1 to 2 hours each.
You are still a very good eater, but you don't eat as much as you used to. Steamed broccoli and cauliflower and carrots are some of your favorite vegetables. Strawberries are by far your absolute favorite food. I'm a little worried what we will do this winter when they won't be available! You absolutely refuse to eat mashed potatoes; this is the only thing I've ever been disappointed in! I can't BELIEVE my child doesn't like mashed potatoes! You also really enjoy spaghetti, tacos, and lots of other casseroles.
You mainly drink milk and water. Every once in awhile I will give you watered down apple juice.
You can say a lot of words now. You can say several animal sounds: Moo (which you still put a "B" in front of, which is adorable!) Boch, boch (chicken), Sssss (snake), Meow (kitty), and you move your nose and mouth for a bunny rabbit. This little list is gone over several times a day. Sometimes you just shake your head "no" when you get tired of answering.
Some new words you've recently added are: done, no, grandma, no, and no. It's so cute when you say no because you have a strange little accent you put on it. It sounds like meow, but with an "n" instead an "m". It makes it hard not to laugh when I'm explaining why you have to obey mommy.
You are really into books right now. You still love to bring us books and have us read to you, but you also like sitting down with them yourself and "read" at the top of your lungs. You turn a page and jabber and jabber and then turn another page and start over. You especially like doing this is the car. You are very loud...
You also carry your baby doll around and push it in the stroller and wrap it in a blanket. You hold it and rock back and forth, patting its back. I just know you will be a wonderful mommy yourself one day.
Outside is still your favorite. You love swinging and digging in the dirt. You also love swimming. If you see your swimsuit you point at it and cry. Several times a day you will bring me your shoes and go stand by the backdoor. It's been so hot out lately (record highs with most days around 105) that we rarely stay out long.
You have a great sense of humor and you are usually the one that makes you laugh! You will jabber and jabber and then just crack up laughing. You also smile and laugh when you let toots. It's too cute!
You've really started wanting only mommy, daddy and grandmas. I'm not sure why this started all the sudden, but you used to go to anyone who held out their arms and now you hardly go to anyone. I'm hoping this is a short phase.
As always, we love you and are so blessed to be your mommy and daddy!

Well, another month has gone by! You are growing so fast, I just can't believe my little baby is already a year and a half old! This month has been crazy busy; I feel like I worked a lot more than usual and I missed you so much on those days. You are getting such a little personality! It's hard for me to be away from you, but since I have to work, I'm glad it's only a few days a week. I would be very sad if I had to work full time and leave you with somebody all the time.
We've really been doing some fun things this summer. It is so fun to watch you play and squeal at new things. This summer has set record highs for temperature, so we've been spending a lot of time in the neighborhood pool and playing at the water table out back. You LOVE playing in water. Grandma T is teaching you the very basics in swimming and you already know to hold your breath under water. You would just walk right into the pool without waiting for anybody if we let you. Once you're in, you start kicking and moving your arms like a pro! Mommy is so proud of you. I loved swimming as a kid, and I'm sure you will be the same. You even stick your face in all on your own.
We took you to the doctor a few weeks ago and you weighed 26 lbs and 10.2 oz and were 31 1/2 inches tall. The doctor said you were very healthy and happy.
You still are a very good eater. We've been doing a lot of fruits and veggies and your favorites are strawberries and garden green beans from our garden and Grandpa Kenny's garden. You still eat a banana every morning with your oatmeal. You are very good at feeding yourself, though you mostly just use your hands. You do like to try to eat with a spoon/fork, but usually get frustrated and go back to your hands. You drink a lot of milk these days too.
You are starting to play a little on your own now. You still love to read, but will look at books on your own and have lately even been wandering into your room and looking at books/puzzles/toys all by yourself. Mommy is very proud of this new independence!
You also love to play with Wrigley. He is warming up to you, but still bites when you push him. You love to grab his toy and play tug-of-war with him. He pulls you off your feet, but you just laugh and laugh and hold on as long as you can. You try to pick him up, which he does NOT appreciate! You also love Anna's cat, Max. He tolerates you, but really isn't much of a fan :) You immediately begin saying kitty kitty whenever you go to Grandma and Grandpa's house.
You talk.....a lot :) You're really working on expanding your vocabulary right now. You say: Wrigley, Momma, Dadda, Grandma, Anna, ball, no, done, kitty and probably more that I can't think of right now. You point to your nose, eyes, mouth and hair on command (when you feel like it) and can also do this on others as well. When we tell you to bring us a book, you go get one and bring it back for us to read. This is one of your favorite things to do. You also enjoy watching your Baby Einstein and Praise Baby videos.
You are still in 12-18 month clothing, but you can also fit into some of Anna's old clothes which are 2-3T. You wear a size 4 shoe and a size 5 diaper.
As always, we love you more than the world. You are such a blessing to us and I don't know what we would do without you. Mommy loves you!
Some pics from this last month....
My all time favorite picture! This is your silly face that you show us quite often!

So, for the last year my blog has basically revolved around Katelyn. I really enjoy writing about her so everybody can see my pictures, but also so that one day, she can read through all of them and see how much we enjoy her and love her.
But this post is going to be more about me :) Sorry to disappoint!
So, I've been an Registered Dental Hygienist for 2 years now, but, because of various reasons, I don't feel like I have really found a good and permanent office yet. A lot of my friends from school are working in great offices and are always talking about how much they enjoy where they work. I guess because I was pregnant right after graduation and had to temp for so long, I really missed out on getting a good office to work at. I don't mind temping, and it was great while I was pregnant, but I am really ready for a good permanent place to work.
In September of last year, I began working at an office in Marshfield. At first I thought it would be great. But the longer I was there, the worse the situation got. I was really unhappy with my boss and most of the equipment I had to work with was really old and pretty much broken. I always felt as though I was being yelled at for things that were beyond my control. After several months, I felt like I couldn't take working there much longer. I began looking for a new place to work, but since I only wanted to work a few days a week so I could be with Katelyn as much as possible, it was hard for me to find another job.
As the months went by with hardly any openings in the job market, I began to get discouraged. I even got a little mad at God. Totally wrong attitude to have, I know, but it's the truth. I just felt like I was trying to raise my daughter the right way and to put her interests first, but that God wasn't providing me the job I needed to do this. I finally just told Him how I felt (I mean, He knows anyway, right?) So, I let my frustration loose and really prayed that I would find peace where I was at, or find somewhere else to work. I really was trying to have faith that God would take care of me. And, like always, He came through.
Less than a week after my little temper tantrum at God, I heard about a job opening at an office in Ozark. One of the other problems with the Marshfield office was the distance and time it took me to get there. Because of gas prices, we really needed something closer to home. So, when I saw this opening I was thrilled! Even better was the fact that it was a part time position. I had interviewed at several offices, but they were all needing a full time hygienist. So, I emailed my resume and an hour later, the dentist called me. I interviewed with him the next day and was hired on the spot.
I start my new job in two days. I'm so excited! It's only 5 minutes from our house and the doctor and staff seem really nice. I've heard great things about them from several different people, which is encouraging. I'm still working a few days for Marshfield, but hopefully, that will end soon. I will have to temp awhile, as the new job is only 1 day per week and I need to work more than that. But, it's worth it!
So, once again, God has shown me that He is working for our good and that I need to trust Him. I'm trying to learn this lesson and leave behind the temper tantrums :) It's hard sometimes, but hopefully I'm getting better. I'm excited to see where this new opportunity will take me, and I'm really hoping I've found the great permanent office I've been looking for. I'm sure I'll keep everyone updated!

About a month ago, we took Katelyn to the Dickerson Park Zoo; it was her first trip to a zoo and her Momma was excited!
Anybody who knows me knows that I LOVE animals.....pretty much all animals except for the gross creepy crawlies! I get this love of nature and animals from my Papa. He loved animals and always wanted to help any animal that was hurt or hungry. I am the exact same way and I love going to zoos. So, needless to say, I've been dying to take Katelyn, but wanted to wait for her to be old enough to understand what she was seeing.
So, on a Saturday in June, we loaded up the car and headed off. It was an extremely HOT day and it kinda happened to by naptime, but we still managed to have a good time. Katelyn liked seeing all the animals, but especially liked the monkeys and giraffes. I was a little disappointed because the elephants were a little too far away to see and they had their backs to us the whole time. Since the elephants and giraffes are my favorite, I was really looking forward to introducing Katelyn to them. We did get to see the giraffes a lot, but I would have liked to be closer to the elephants.
All in all, we had a pretty good day. Though I think we'll wait for it to cool down a little before venturing out again. Maybe next time we'll be able to take Katelyn to the St. Louis Zoo!
Getting ready to go into the zoo!
I love this pic! She's like, "umm, mom, do you see that big animal over there?"
Pretty Swan
Pointing at the monkeys
It was hard to get her to look away from the monkeys long enough to snap this pic!
She really liked the peacocks too
Apparently, the handlers feed the hippo by hand sometimes....this
doesn't seem wise to me, but whatever.....
Favorite pic ever!
Katelyn wasn't too sure about this statue at first, but warmed up eventually
Mommy and Katelyn
Mommy and Baby Giraffe
Watching the giraffes
Almost as tall as they are when she's on Daddy's shoulders
Eye level :)
The lions, which ironically, are placed right next to the giraffes....
hope no one escapes!
Checkin' out some more animals
Hot and tired little girl!

Warning: picture overload!
It's been awhile since I've posted some pictures lately, and so I took a moment to do that this time. Well, baby girl, you're growing up so fast, I just can't believe how time flies. I feel like I JUST wrote about you turning 14 months, and here we are, another month behind us.
Most of the stats are the same as last month. You're 15 month doctor appointment isn't until next week, so we don't know your height and weight yet. I would say you are relatively the same, but you may have gotten a little taller.
You are certainly more steady on your feet these days. I swear, you practically run everywhere you go. You are definitely faster than your momma is! Most days I fall into bed exhausted after chasing you all day! I love it though! Wouldn't ever change it!
Summer is here and your favorite thing is playing in water. It doesn't matter if it's in a big pool, kiddie pool, baby pool in the backyard or a few buckets on the porch. You just LOVE playing in water! I really enjoy swimming too, so this is a fun pastime for us. We had a little bit of a hard time with the swimsuits this year. All the ones I had were 18 months and basically too small. So we dug a few of Anna's old ones out and you looked adorable in them! You do really well in a pool and are rarely scared. Grandma T and I are both working on teaching you how to swim. You let us put your head under without crying and you love "jumping" off the side into our arms. You insist on walking around the neighborhood kiddie pool without me holding your hand. You fell and went under the other day, but were fine when I grabbed you out!
You are really starting to add some words to your vocabulary. Wrigley is till your favorite word right now. You also say ball, moo and one time said quack quack.
You understand a lot more than we realize too! Daddy asked you if you wanted to go night night the other day and you just got up and walked right into your room to your crib! We were amazed. You also go to your highchair and jabber whenever you're hungry. You also jabber really, really loudly whenever we're in the car with the music on. I know you think you're singing right along with the radio. I love it!
As always, sweetie, Daddy and I love you more than the world itself. Nothing will ever change that!
You and Grandma Melanie
One of my favorite pics of you!
So cute!
Who could resist this smile?
You and Papa Kenny
You and Daddy at Preston's bday party
One of my favorite outfits
You LOVE sitting in chairs your size...
Another favorite picture
My favorite smile where you wrinkle your nose
A funny face you make all the time when you're being ornery
sitting in your kiddie lawn chair at Grandma's!
Swimming!
Swinging is another favorite! Though, you are usually terrified of Sophie!

Today you are 14 months old. I think this has been my favorite age so far. You are sooo much fun to play with and TALK with! You are beginning to understand simple instructions and you are starting to say new things every day. I LOVE being your mommy!
I'm not sure how much you weigh right now because it's been a while since we've been to the doctor (for which I'm very thankful!), but I think you've gained a few pounds. You are wearing a size 5 diaper during the day and a size 5 overnight diaper at night. You can wear clothes anywhere from 12 months to 24 months, depending on the outfit. I have almost given up on putting you in jeans or jean shorts, because they just simply do not fit! You are in a size 3 shoe.
You still like to eat for the most part, but have been going through a stage where you are too busy to sit down and eat a good meal. You would prefer to eat on the go, which doesn't work well for mommy. We are trying to let you eat by yourself, but most of the food ends up on your shirt, or in Wrigley's mouth! Most days I can't stand the mess and end up feeding you. We'll see how well this goes.... Your absolute favorite thing to eat right now is cottage cheese. Anytime you see something white and creamy, you think it's cottage cheese. If it isn't, you get very upset! You will eat about anything we put in front of you, but you aren't real crazy about potatoes.
You LOVE being outside. Daddy hung a swing for you last month and you point to it and whine every time you see it until we swing you. You are very good at convincing people to put you in there and give you a few pushes. You also LOVE sitting in your little lawn chair. You and daddy sit out in your chairs in the evening and just hang out. You think you are big stuff sitting there with daddy!
You are saying quite a bit these days. You favorite word is "wigwey" or in big people language, Wrigley. Every time we turn onto our street, you start saying it. You say it in the morning and at night. You say it when you see Wrigley and when you see any other animal that may or may not resemble Wrigley. You are also saying "Booooo" whenever we ask you what a cow says. And the other day you said "quack, quack" when we asked what a duck says.
You're favorite toys right now are books. You have several that you love to look at. Most of the favorites have animals in them. You bring them to us to read over and over again. You also love your Praise Baby DVD. Anytime you are grumpy we put that in and let you sit and watch it. I think mommy and daddy love it as much as you!
You are having some sleep issues this past week or so. You seem to be waking up around 1:00 each night and crying. You usually put yourself back to sleep within 10 minutes. We haven't really figured this one out yet. You are still taking two naps on most days. You normally take an hour nap.
We have really loved watching you grow and change. I love seeing your little personality shine through more and more each day. As always, momma and daddy love you more than the world!!

Well, baby girl, momma kinda forgot about posting on your 13 month birthday. Sorry! I've been working a lot these days and you keep us running most of the time, so time got away from me. We are only 7 days past, though, so the information will still be correct.
You've been up to A LOT these days! You keep on the move most of the time. You can walk across the room on your own now, but generally like to keep hold of a finger or two just to be sure. You get really excited when you are able to bend down and pick up something without falling. You have learned to slow down a bit, so you are getting better at the whole walking thing. Your favorite thing to do right now is have someone walk you all around, wherever you want to go. This is usually done by a grandparent!
You are sleeping like an angel still. Daddy rocks you for about 5 minutes and then lays you down and you roll over and sleep for 12 hours. It's wonderful! Bed time is usually between 7 and 7:30. Nap time is a little different story. Some days we have two good naps and some days one good nap and a good fight. We tried switching over to just one nap a day, but I don't think you were quite ready for it. We'll try again soon though.
You wear mostly 18 month clothing now, but can still fit into some 12 month stuff too. Jeans are not our friend right now. If they fit around the waist they are too long, but if they are the right length, then they don't fit at the waist. So, most days we wear nice soft pants with a cute shirt. You have a ton of really cute summer clothes that I can't wait to dress you in, it just hasn't been quite warm enough these last few days.
You wear a size 5 diaper and will probably stay in it for awhile longer. We finally had to switch to overnight diapers for night time. You were soaking through clothing, sheets, padding and everything! The overnights work great.
You still eat pretty good, but you are definitely trying to assert your authority in this area. Unfortunately for you, your momma is more stubborn than you are so far. Your favorite thing to eat right now is cottage cheese and carrots. You LOVE cottage cheese with just about anything mixed in, but carrots are a favorite. You are stubbornly refusing to eat green beans, which you used to love. Grandpa Steve feeds you fudge sickles which you love....
You can say several words now. Momma and daddy are at the top of the list followed closely by Daisy and Wrigley. You are actually quite good at saying the dogs' names and you almost always get the right name with the right dog! I think you also have a word for grandma and grandpa, but it's not real good yet.
You love to play with all your toys and just recently have gotten interested in your Praise Baby and Baby Einstein dvds. Mommy and daddy got you a swing for your birthday, which you absolutely love. We go out most days and swing for quite awhile.
Aunt Sally still watches you three days a week while mommy is at work. You love being over at their house and playing with all the older girls.
As always, you are the light of our lives and we love you to pieces!!

Well, I've already written about how amazed I am that you are already turning one, so this blog will be about what we've been up to this past month and about your birthday party!!
You've had some pretty big accomplishments this month. We finally weaned you off of the formula (yea!!) and then about two weeks later said good-bye to all the bottles (very sad for mommy). You have adjusted very well to all of this and don't seem to miss the bottles at all. You do great with a sippy cup and can hold it yourself (though you've done this for quite awhile now).
You just upgraded to a size 5 diaper. They are a little big, but the fours were not standing up to the job of keeping you dry overnight, so we went ahead and made the switch.
You wear mainly 18 month clothing now, but most 12 month stuff still fits too, as long as it isn't pants, those you definitely need 18 months in. You wear a size 3 shoe. We found some shoes at Walmart that have a see-through plastic part on the bottom near the toe that shows us if the shoe is on good that we just love!
You are sleeping great at night! Daddy puts you to bed around 7:30 and you usually sleep until 7am. Naps are still sometimes a challenge, and many days you only take 2 half hour naps. On a good day we'll get 2 one hour naps. We rock you and then put you down; if you wake up when we lay you down, we just walk out and you usually cry for a minute and then fall asleep. We have worked very hard to get this accomplished, so mommy is VERY proud of you for doing it!!
You eat great. We are done with baby food- another big accomplishment this month. You pretty much eat whatever me and daddy are eating, unless it's really spicy. You really like tuna patties and mashed potatoes. You also love spaghetti and lasagna. You drink mainly milk and water, with some juice thrown in.
You also learned how to stand on your own!!! Yea Katelyn! You took your first steps this month, which mommy and daddy were so excited about! Now you love to practice walking between people and while holding on to the furniture. Sometimes, you get yourself into some predicaments, but you usually find a way out :)
You are now pointing out everything and wanting us to name it. Your favorite things to point at are: the picture of you on the living room wall, daisy, wrigley, your picture, mommy, daddy, your picture, the TV and your picture!
You still say momma more than anything, but you imitate sounds really well. I don't think you know they are words yet, but you sure do practice saying stuff you hear!
As always, mommy and daddy love you sooooo much baby girl!
BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!
We had your birthday party on Saturday, March 10, 2012, and it was a hit! You looked adorable in your little outfit. I had the onsie made especially for you and then Grandma Theresa made the tutu to put on it. We painted your toenails pink and Grandma and I designed your headpiece. I have never seen a cuter baby....ever!
We had a bunch of family and friends over to help us celebrate and they gave you some amazing gifts! You love all your new clothes and books and play food! This summer, I know we will get some good use out of your new pool too!
Here's some pictures of the party...

Daddy, Mommy and you
The sweetest baby I've ever seen!
Opening your gifts
After we opened presents, we took you into the kitchen so you could smash into your cake.....
which you refused to do.....
no matter how hard we tried.....
even though we practiced earlier in the week....
not even when we gave you a spoon......
finally Grandpa Steve saved the day by playing airplane with the spoon,
and you finally took a bite and realized we weren't poisoning you! :)
But, you still wouldn't put your hand in it....
So mommy had to feed you....
which you were happy about (after all, it was good cake!!)
We even got cousin Anna to put her hands in it to show you how...
and then all the other kiddos too....
but you weren't convinced....
and Greyson took your side, insisting on using a spoon too!!! :)
So mommy finally smashed your hand in it....which made you mad
But you did finally eat off your hand...
So mommy just kept putting cake on your hand for you!
Silly girl!
You kept saying, "mmmmm..." after each bite
and then licking your lips, which was adorable!
After everybody had cake and homemade ice cream (courtesy of Papa Kenny) the kiddos went outside and played in the yard. Everybody enjoyed the bubbles and m&m's that were the party favors. You loved watching the bubbles float all around you.
All in all, we had a great birthday celebration! You were on a high afterwards and didn't get to sleep until 8:30 that night! You had so much fun playing with all your new toys that we just let you play for awhile. After all, how many times can a girl turn ONE?!!!
Happy birthday Love!
